The changes brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic in the workplace may cause strain for some workers. To help shake off this stress experienced by employees, Macmillan Education Eswatini hosted a staff wellness event on Friday the 17th of September 2021 at the company’s premises in Matsapha, the industrial hub of Eswatini. This event was hosted under strict COVID- 19 regulations. The event opened with a 30-minute session of aerobics where employees really enjoyed themselves. Representatives of the Ministry of Health engaged Macmillan staff on issues such as mental health, COVID-19 and general wellbeing. All these topics were aimed at ensuring a healthy and happy work force at Macmillan.
This event was themed: A better Macmillan for all. Members of the Royal Eswatini Police Services (REPS) also attended, mainly to address Macmillan staff on the political unrest currently prevailing in the country. Their main objective was to assist employees on how best they can keep themselves safe during such precarious times where civilians are killed and arrested almost every day due to their political activism.
As the programme director for the day, Mr. Bongani Ntshalintshali, highlighted, ‘’Wellness is key for better productivity in the workplace’’ – Macmillan employees indeed showed greater excitement for being afforded the opportunity to partake in such a freshening event.
The event was a huge success according to feedback obtained from management and staff.
