To commemorate World Read Aloud Day, Macmillan Education Eswatini visited Matsapha Government Primary School, a neighbouring school to encourage the learners to read and sensitise them on the importance of reading aloud. World Read Aloud Day is an annual event celebrated on the first Wednesday of February to promote literacy and the joy of reading. As an educational publishing house, it is paramount for us to observe such a special day.

“Reading aloud makes it easier to memorise material you are reading” These were sentiments shared by Macmillan Sales and marketing representative Nomcebo Mngomezulu at the school during the commemoration. She further elucidated that exercise is pivotal in taking one to an imaginary world.

We also donated books and backpacks to the pupils at the school. During the event, we asked three pupils to read out loud to their peers from the books presented to them by Macmillan Education Eswatini.

The day aimed to encourage people of all ages to pick up a book and read it aloud to others to spread their love for literature and promote literacy. It highlighted the importance of reading for children, who are the future of society.
